We all know that when we get a pet, we will probably outlive it. We give it all the love and affection in the world and hope they have a great life.
We just lost Zelda, a.k.a. Zelderscrolls, Zeldibaneldi. We do think that our tiny bengal used to call her fat-ass, but we do not have proof. Zelda was a large Maine Coon and have always had a bit of a joint problem (and dental issues), we found a lump on her hind leg and went to the vet the day after. And after a few X-rays the vet could ascertain that the joints were really bad and her guess was that the lump was cancer. Even if we’d treated the cancer, she would still have a lot of pain because of the joints. And there were signs that it had spread.
So we went home with an empty transport cage. And that is just about the worst feeling in the world.
We’ve been trying to understand if Xena, the bengal, misses Zelda. But Xena do not love other cats – and she shows no signs of being sad in any way, but what do we know?
It hurts right now, and right now we’re thinking that we will never get another pet. We will, because when the sorrow subsides you remember all the good times, and that life is very empty without a pet.
